Khao Tom Gai, Fresh Fruit Plate

I’m in Bangkok for a little while; I don’t have a ticket to Hanoi yet but I suspect that I’ll return in two weeks, depending on how well I enjoy my stay here and how much I miss Hanoi. There’s a longer post in my head, waiting to be written, about Hanoi—how I feel like I don’t live there anymore even though I do and I will—but that’ll have to wait until I figure out how to write it.

Mango Salad with Squid, Pan Fried Duck in Orange Sauce, Grilled Chicken with Lemongrass, and Mixed Fried Rice

Last night I went to dinner at Pineapple with my buddy Elliot, a former 2-year Volunteers in Asia volunteer who is now in Hanoi for the summer. We talked about my favorite movie, religion, culture, and ethnicity. Heady topics for a Friday night, but I was glad to have the conversation and the company. The food wasn’t as mind-blowing as it usually is, possibly because we arrived at night, but the restaurant is still a place I wouldn’t ever hesitate to bring friends and visitors alike to.
