Spending a few nights in Dallas, Texas, with close friends and family. Tonight’s dinner courtesy of Rockfish Seafood Grill.
My last meal in Mexico, eaten this morning at Margaritaville Cancun. I had such a nice time with my grandmother during the last 9 or so days and I’m quite sad that it’s already ended. She’s made the trip to Vietnam twice to see me and I’ve made the trip to Playa del Carmen twice to see her. I can’t think of anyone else in the world with whom I’d rather enjoy these alternating trips. She’s a star.
La Pummarola has to be my favorite pizza place in all of Playa del Carmen (actually one of my favorite pizza places, regardless of location). Nani and I were supposed to eat there for dinner tonight but she was feeling tired. So instead I enjoyed a Saturday night alone downtown, walking and walking until my shirt was covered in sweat. It was a nice break away from the computer and at the end of my walk I ordered two pizzas to go (it’s my “cheat day”) so Nani and I could enjoy them at home without having to drive all the way downtown. I’m pretty sure I’ll return to Vietnam next month fatter than when I left.
It’s been a rough week of work, to say the least, which isn’t always a bad thing. The Theme Team at Automattic has been cranking out some amazing stuff during the last several weeks (including our weddings themes and landing page, which I coded), and I’m frantically trying to finish a long-overdue project so that I can move on to something new within the company for a little while. Being around Nani in Playa del Carmen has been wonderful. I eat her food, we crack jokes all day long, and we talk about travel and living as expats. As I always say, she’s the person I want to be when I grow up.
