Local Salad, Garlic Roasted Brussel Sprouts

Michelle and I talked shop over lunch at LOCAL Kitchen and Wine Merchant today. The food was okay, the conversation better.

I feel funny having thought that I would stay put in San Francisco without going anywhere else for a while. It seems that not a few weeks went by without me making plans for the next three months of my life, most of which involves me being in locations other than San Francisco.

I’ll surely be here until July 5th and throughout most of WordCamp San Francisco, but I do miss my family in Texas very much and also have some things in Vietnam that I need to take care of during August. My departure from Hanoi was super-abrupt; I’ll spend the month seeing friends and resetting my expectations for what it is that I want from San Francisco as a living destination, if anything at all. I have to remind myself that being somewhere just to say that I’m there is usually-always a bad idea. I need to make sure that relocation is a smart decision; right now I’m not sure, so I’ll continue floating as I’ve done all year.

All in all I’m quite happy with how this year has turned out, even during the times when I felt like I was doing too much. I feel that it’s much better to keep it moving and keep seeing the people who I love if I can’t figure out exactly what’s going to work for me in terms of long-term housing. I’m fortunate that I’m able to work from anywhere and give a lot of focused energy to my friends and family who are scattered throughout.
