Hushpuppies, Red Beans And Rice, Broccoli and Carrots

Last week I quietly spent my 32nd* birthday mostly working. My best friend and I ate lunch together, but I was otherwise at my mother’s home in Pearland. To make up for missing out a family gathering, my sister treated my mom, brother, brother-in-law, nephews, and me to dinner tonight at Lafayette Cajun Seafood Restaurant. Good times with loved ones and good food are all I really need; I was not disappointed. The older I get the more I realize how little material objects mean to me, and one of the greatest gifts that has come from relocating my base to San Francisco has been the peace of mind knowing that I can pop down to Texas whenever I have the itch to be around family.
